New Directions

I haven't blogged for so long that the format for posting an entry has completely changed!  I hope I can get this out okay. A friend of mine on Facebook recently wrote a series of long notes describing her trek across the country as she moved from Idaho to Delaware to begin Graduate School.  I was interested in her experiences because I made a similar trek (although shorter) last year so that I could go to Grad School.  It was fascinating to see the perspective of someone leaving the very place that I had just moved to. It reminded me that I use to love to blog and I kind of miss it. This might be the only post I make in awhile though, because school is starting again soon and I doubt I will have the time.

Well there is lots of sunshine around here now!  Maybe even too much.  This summer has been much hotter than normal, with about two months of 95 and higher degree days.  The old timers say that typically, the temperature only gets above 90 for about two weeks. This might mean we get a mild winter this year? Somehow I doubt it, but I'll keep wishing!  Since our new home does not have air conditioning, we have taking respites from the heat by going to the school computer lab and enjoying the A/C there.

Home ownership has given me a new perspective on things.  It is funny when you get what you have always wanted.  You start to ask yourself "This is what I always wanted, really?"  I have wanted to own a cute older home for as long as I can remember. Not that there is anything especially bad or frustrating about owning a home, it's just not as overwhelmingly joyful as I thought it would be!  Maybe later on in the process it will be. For now it is all about the contextual details...in other words, it's all about the work that is in front of me at the moment. It makes me think about other things in my life that I have always wanted that have not yet come to fruition.  Will I also feel lackluster about those events?  For now, I am just trying to keep moving little by little...in a forward direction.

Sunshine is coming back

What do you blog about when you haven't posted a blog in over a year, or maybe even two?  I was not sure what to pick, until I logged on and remembered the title of my blog.  Not only is it the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, the sun was looking like it's "normal" self today.  The only snow left it seems is the pile in our front yard that sees only a few minutes of sun each day.  It is not Spring yet, but it seems that I have survived my first real winter!  Hurray! We saw a squirrel just sitting on the fence yesterday soaking up some rays.  I do not think I have ever seen a squirrel stay so still for such a long time. I "dig him" man. Give Me Sunshine has new meaning for me now!
